My name is Ashley Prewitt, and I am honored to work alongside you to improve your mental health. My husband and I have two children and a quirky rescue dog who is like a third child to us. When I’m not reading about psychiatry, searching for missing LEGO pieces or baby doll accessories, I love gardening, reading/writing poetry, and photography. I believe in the healing nature of writing about one’s trauma and the power that comes from telling your story to someone you trust. My primary interests are adolescents, eating disorders, childhood trauma, anxiety, and Tourette Syndrome.

     I grew up in Southern Mississippi and moved to the Jackson Metro to attend Mississippi College for a Bachelor of Social Work degree prior to nursing. I spent two years as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Millsaps College focusing on education and health initiatives and race relations through partnership with undergraduate students, local community schools, and non-profits. I later went on to attend nursing school for my ADN at Holmes Community College where I earned the school of nursing’s Academic Excellence Award as well as the Mississippi Nurses’ Foundation School of Nursing Scholarship. My BSN is from the University of Alabama and my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner MSN is from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My RN experience is in the Emergency Room.
